S103
Photographer: Jon Kelsey |
S103 is a Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0T type PLA. Works Number 1864, it was built in Leeds in 1952, though the PLA (Port of London Authority) design first appeared in 1915. There is some evidence that it saw service with the National Coal Board at Newmarket, Whitwood and/or Glasshoughton collieries in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The boiler for this long term project is currently being restored elsewhere.
There's a bit more information, including a photograph of it still in service in 1976, here.
