Model Railway

Dartmoor Railway Association volunteers have built an OO gauge model railway layout in Okehampton's 1935 signalbox. It features a model of the station as it would have been in the 1950s, a model of Fatherford Viaduct, and a model of Meldon Viaduct. There is a large variety of locomotives and rolling stock on display.
During the winter, the signal box is generally open on Wednesdays - DRA's main volunteering day - roughly between 1100 and 1530. If you wish to visit, make yourself known in the staff room on platform 2 or the shop on platform 3.
Visits on other days may be possible by appointment, subject to volunteer availability. Contact us on info@dartmoor-railway-association.org with your requirements.
Meldon Viaduct

Also on show in the Arthur Westlake Museum on Platform 2 is our large model of Meldon Viaduct, along with many other Okehampton/Meldon related exhibits. It was originally built by the late Mike Ellis in the 2010s.
The museum is usually open whenever volunteers are in attendance at the station.
